Tips for Saving Money on Ski Lodging & Vacations
Watch out for resort fees – Many larger hotels and lodges at larger resorts have nightly “resort fees” that can quickly add up. If you are comparing costs, this is important to check for and remember. A bed & breakfast is unlikely to have these fees.
Stay someplace located 5+ minutes away from the lifts by car – Prices go down quickly as you get farther away from the base of the mountain. Avoiding base area lodging is an easy way to keep vacation costs down.
Book your vacation far in advance – You may be able to find better rates if you book far in advance of your vacation dates.
Book your lodging first and hunt for package deals – Always book your lodging first before your lift tickets and ski rentals. See if anyplace will offer you a lodging package that includes your rentals, lift tickets, or other money savers. This can be a great way to get cheap lift tickets at resorts where the mountain might not offer them directly. Jay Peak is one of the best places for ski + stay packages. You can also view packages for Killington, Okemo, Stowe, and Stratton through our partners Snowpak.com through the button above on this page.
Look for courtesy mountain lodge shuttles, especially for large groups – Save money on Uber rides among other things. Courtesy shuttles to/from the mountain are especially ideal if you have a large group that is traveling with a small number of vehicles. This can prevent anyone from having to end their ski day early that doesn’t want to.
